Applying for Benefits

You can apply for unemployment benefits through the Employment Security Department online or over the phone. 

First, you will want to be sure you are eligible for benefits. You can figure out whether you are eligible by reviewing the Employment Security Department’s eligibility checklist.

Second, apply online or by phone by following the steps on the Employment Security Department’s website.

Third, start submitting weekly claims every week, even if you are not being paid. If the issue delaying payment for your claim is later resolved, you will only receive back pay for the weeks that you filed claims.
